Summary:


The SSVF Financial Navigator is responsible for providing direct services in the areas of representative payee case management, financial services support, & financial coaching for participants enrolled in the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program. The goal of the Financial Navigator is to support participants who demonstrate the need for financial coaching; these supports are implemented using established financial training resources & motivational interviewing techniques & support the housing goals established by the SSVF program. The Financial Navigator will integrate into a cross-functional team within Goodwill Industries of the Inland Northwest's Representative Payee program to address & support the economic security of eligible veterans. The Financial Navigator receives referrals from appropriate internal (as well as external) sources & provides management & supervision of participant cash benefits to ensure the provision of basic needs: housing, utilities, clothing, childcare, & food. This position also supports participants in building financial management skills to become as independent as possible. Localized travel required using company &/or personal vehicle. Must have valid driver's license, clean driving record, & proof of personal auto insurance & pass driver record & background check.

Education &/or Experience:


Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience &/or training; or equivalent combination of education & experience.

Work experience or knowledge of case management, representative payee services, & housing first principles. Combination of training, education, & experience equivalent to participant service delivery, social work, financial services, or financial coaching. Experience working with chronically homeless individuals, people with severe & persistent mental illness &/or co-occurring disorders, or equivalent experience is highly desired.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following:

  • Ability to motivate participants & train & guide other staff in more complex case management activities.
  • Ability to analyze complex work situations accurately & adopt effective course of action.
  • Ability to carry out assignments & projects without detailed instructions.
  • Ability to understand, simplify, & communicate complex functionality to colleagues, participants, & the community.
  • Excellent verbal, written, & communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Capacity to work in a first-of-its-kind program that requires a high level of adaptation &
  • Willingness to be flexible as the project evolves.
  • Assume responsibility for timely planning & preparation of budgets & check requests for participants on a monthly & weekly basis.
  • In conjunction with the participant & their case manager, implement a budget & money management plan. Revise as needed.
  • Work closely with case managers, property managers, & other entities in order to determine & ensure all participants' basic needs, rent, expenses, etc are addressed & funds are disbursed monthly &/or as needed.
  • Participate in all meetings with collaborative agencies & other community meetings as directed.
  • Work collaboratively with Workforce & Family Services to provide participant services.
  • Follow all policies, procedures, & directives of Goodwill Industries of the Inland Northwest assuring safety of personnel or property.
  • Maintain agency confidentiality. Violation of confidentiality is cause for immediate dismissal.
  • Comply with all health, safety, & fire standards & all local, state, & federal regulations (WISHA & OSHA).
  • Other duties as assigned.
