Position Overview
The Office of Admissions at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire an Admissions Processing Lead to join our team. This position is responsible for processing application materials and transcripts, verifying authenticity of academic credentials and accreditation of schools, and evaluating transcripts. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
  • Must be able to verify authenticity of academic credentials for domestic and international students, including accreditation status of schools, validity of test results, input and update application data as appropriate.
  • Responsible for accurately maintaining student records and data and initiating appropriate verbal/written communication with students/staff.
  • Assists with Admissions Office imaging process.
  • Must be in compliance with University directives and standards, post transfer credit hours, and be able to generate reports, letters and labels on demand.
  • Responsible for fostering a customer service attitude within the ESSC framework and participating in related ESSC functions.
  • Assists co-workers as required.
  • Should have the ability to sit for extended periods of time, ability to perform data entry, ability to provide customer service via e-mail, phone and in person, ability to access file cabinets (pulling, bending, standing and stooping), and ability to work extended hours during registration periods and as required.
  • Should also be a team player able to function well within a large team group, and work well under pressure meeting predetermined deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from High School or GED equivalent and three years of general office or
clerical experience. Substitution of education for experience allowed.

  • Basic Microsoft Office skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve and make decisions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate.
  • Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned function.
  • Skill in composing routine letters and preparing reports.
  • Skill in recording and compiling material for reports.


Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of experience in a college/university setting.
  • Experience reviewing and evaluating domestic and international credentials.
  • Experience using PeopleSoft and Microsoft Office.
  • Detail oriented and organized.
  • Availability to work extended hours as required during peak periods.
  • Ability to work independently and work well with a team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with a “can do” attitude.

Job Duties

o
Process applications and credential evaluation by computing grade point average, evaluate work past degree, prepare evaluation for application packet for transmission to the department and initiate correspondence related to the applicant. Determine, in a timely manner, foreign school accreditation, English proficiency, verification of official foreign documents.

Data entry in Enterprise Information System (EIS) for the GPA and referral reason is done with a high level of accuracy.

o
Serves as university and staff liaison for all aspects of the admissions process by providing timely and accurate assistance to the University faculty and staff on required international admissions documents and processes. Address concerns and prioritize them.

o
Answer general questions concerning admission and graduate school policies, procedures, and practices. Must maintain current knowledge of policies and procedures and convey to students, faculty, and staff.

o
Serves as back up for data entry of domestic and international applications and transcripts for admission. provide fast, accurate, and consistent high quality data entry for new applications and other required admission documents.
