Job Duties:

  • Develop actuarial knowledge and skills by passing SOA exams towards ASA attainment.
  • Provide actuarial data and technical support for product pricing and risk management, including data research, use of data sources and databases, and basic modeling of products.
  • Maintain, develop and verify actuarial systems, spreadsheets, databases, programs and reports to provide data needed for pricing, risk monitoring and analysis of experience on products.
  • Provide support and calculations needed for rate adjustment activities and for verification of product experience projections or budgets.
  • Prepare actuarial spreadsheets or data visualization tools/applications that effectively utilize software functionality and develop tools that can be used by less sophisticated end users.
  • Utilize spreadsheets, programs and queries to efficiently obtain and manipulate data as needed for projects, using working knowledge of software, programming and database tools, and creative problem-solving ability.
  • Complete special reports/projects that require basic knowledge of products and basic actuarial concepts.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in math, computer science, actuarial science or related technical field
  • Must have passed at least one Society of Actuaries Exam
  • 1 to 3 years of related experience
  • Proficiency with PC Windows-based software, including Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Excel. Knowledge of VBA or Macros preferred.
  • Proficiency with programming language such as SQL or SAS preferred
  • Shows initiative, such as addressing problems when needed
  • Demonstrates ownership of projects and work product
  • Good planning and organizational skills, including management of multiple assignments
  • Good judgment, problem-solving, analytical and interpretative skills
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and time constraints
