As a Automation Specialist in Engineering Services, you’ll provide solutions and services that help our customers protect and control critical electrical infrastructure and power systems worldwide.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a proficient level of expertise in the detail design practices of SEL protection and automation systems.
  • Develop and maintain a proficient level of knowledge of SEL equipment and solutions to electric power system protection and automation applications.
  • Complete assigned work within agreed upon schedule and budget to a high level of quality.
  • Train and assist customers with the installation, commissioning, and operation of automation and/or protection systems, both on-site and from SEL offices.
  • Work in a safe, healthful and environmentally sound manner, report accidents and unsafe conditions promptly, and perform ergonomic exercises to reduce likelihood of injuries.
  • Provide support for other SEL marketing, sales, application engineering, and development activities.
  • Continuously identify, measure, and improve processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in electronic technology or equivalent experience/military school training
  • Experience with electrical power systems or industrial automation system practices
  • Good knowledge of system protection, integration, and automation applications
  • Working knowledge of electric power systems and protective relay applications
  • Excellent technical training
  • Ability to work independently, accepting ownership of assigned responsibilities
  • Willing to travel about 50%
  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Background check results satisfactory to SEL
  • Negative drug test result(s)
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with electric power transmission, distribution, and/or generation systems
  • Experience being a part of project teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer in Training certificate
  • Electrical utility, industrial plant, consulting engineering, or system integrator experience
  • Working knowledge of Vision or other project management tracking software

Pay: $65,000.00 - $180,001.29 per year
