The Chincapin Equestrian Center is located at Tannerwood Farm, just a few minutes down Kirtland-Chardon Road. Tannerwood sits on over 40 beautiful acres. With multiple riding arenas, wooded trails, and plenty of pastures, the farm is a pony paradise!

This is bound to be the best job you’ve ever had and the hardest work you’ll ever love! Assist in completion of daily barn chores that provide care for the camp’s animals through feeding, watering, stall cleaning, turnout/bringing in, tack/barn cleaning, pasture/riding ring management

Red Oak works with campers who come to our camps from all walks of life and find themselves in a caring, nurturing environment where they get to make friends and try new things while creating lasting memories.

  • Complete assigned responsibilities while at the barn, with proper & safe use of equipment
  • Herd management support by identifying changes, injuries, illnesses, or other needs of the horse with direct notification to the Equestrian Director
  • Ability to obtain vital signs of all the camp animals
  • Support the Horseback Riding Instructors in providing assistance before, during, and after lessons with knowledge appropriate to assigned responsibilities
  • Follow curricula and lesson plans that allow for progression of activities as assigned by the Equestrian Director
  • Document information about animals daily care, activities, and vital signs per camp policy
  • Conduct daily checks of stable areas & pastures for safety, cleanliness, and good repair
  • Notify the Equestrian Director about needs/damages for/to equipment and supplies when discovered
  • Identify unsafe riding areas, including but not limited to ground/ring surfaces, fencing, and jumping equipment and reporting findings to the Equestrian Director
  • Participate in staff training, clinics, ground/riding lessons, or any other training required by camp
  • Timely execute chores and animal care meeting identified time frames
