About Hope Christian Health Center

Hope Christian Health Center is a non-profit, faith-based organization operating two clinics in North Las Vegas, a mobile outreach team, and the HCHC Recuperative Care Center (HCHC RCC) in Las Vegas.

The HCHC RCC is a 38 bed inpatient program that offers
primary care, case management, wound care, and other supportive services to clients who are homeless made possible through partnership with the City of Las Vegas.

JOB SUMMARY: The Bilingual Medical Assistant (MA) participates in the delivery of excellent medical services in a patient centered medical home environment with an emphasis on the prevention of disease by serving as the initial contact between the patient and provider. The MA saves the provider time in the exam room by obtaining vital signs, having the patient complete any intake forms, obtaining the reason for the visit (chief complaint(s)), and prepping the exam rooms. The MA assists other medical team members in ensuring compliance with all 19 Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Health Center Program Requirements. The MA is also expected to actively participate in and support quality improvement activities and the clinical practice team efforts with an emphasis on the importance of the individual patient and putting the patient’s needs first.

You must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to be considered for this position with exceptions only as required by law (ex: medical or religion).

Please note this position requires fluency in English and Spanish. Applicants who do not speak both languages will not be considered.

Schedule: Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday 7am-6pm, Wednesday and Thursday 9am-8pm, Friday 7am-6pm. May include Saturdays.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administrative Duties

  • Promotes and demonstrates Hope values of: Gospel motivation, Prayer, Excellence, Stewardship, Patience, Thankfulness, Humility, Service, Dignity through Relationship and Hospitality and Joy
  • Serves on the Patient Care Team
  • Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit
  • Prepares patient exam and treatment rooms with necessary paperwork and/or instruments
  • Administers injections and applies dressings as instructed by the physician
  • Works directly in coordination with the providers to receive detailed instructions on the care for each patient
  • Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking vital signs; reporting patient history summary
  • Protects HIPAA and maintains patient confidentiality
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complies with legal regulations
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications
  • Maintains all BLS certifications and required certification. Must be certified through the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Attends and actively participates in staff meetings and participates in committee meetings as requested
  • Maintains respectful, courteous, and appropriate communication and interpersonal skills with all staff members, volunteers, and patients
  • Supports patient care activities by managing time effectively, utilizing resources appropriately, and exemplifying excellence in attention to detail
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bilingual in Spanish

Education Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of a Medical Assistant program from an accredited program or school with one year of experience. Phlebotomy experience preferred.
