We have an exciting new opportunity for a Coating Specialist to join our Bolton & Menk, Inc. This position offers the opportunity for you to join a well-established firm with a long history of superior service. This position is flexible to be based out of any of our locations and will include travel.

As a Coating Specialist, you are responsible for observing and reporting the technical aspects of protective coating projects and its conformance or deviation from the project specifications in the field. You will work directly with contractors to ensure compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, and government regulations. We are looking for a candidate that excel at client management with excellent communication and organization skills as this role will have a high level of interaction with clients and contractors. This position will also be responsible for business development with prospective client communities, working to help communities understand the importance of good coatings and the benefit of having them properly overseen. Responsibilities:

• Perform basic coating inspections on elevated and ground level water storage tanks, water/wastewater plants and assist Senior Coatings Specialist and Project Engineers with:
• Monitor surface preparation and coating application activities daily.
• Prepare inspection reports and inspection data for projects.
• Maintain detailed records and documentation of inspection activities.
• Inspecting project sites and evaluating contractor work to ensure conformance to design specifications.
• Manages telecom installation projects.
• Assists with engineering field operations as directed.
• Records quantities and progress of construction activities.
• Performs material testing procedures and records results.
• Serves as resident project representative for routine construction projects.
• Performs management and inspections/observations of telecommunication installation projects.
• Travels frequently to multiple work sites and other project related locations.
• Prepare Inspection reports, communicate with client (verbally and written) on coatings and water tower considerations
• Oversee other coatings staff (as necessary) on a technical basis and answer technical questions on projects

What We Are Looking For:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum NACE Certified Coating Inspector (CIP Level 1)
• Ability to climb heights over 200 feet
• Familiarity with Water Towers and prior Tower Experience is preferred.
• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) preferred
• Commitment to working safely and producing high quality, ethical service
• Good Interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and build positive working relationships
• Willingness to learn NACE standards and test methods
• Possess valid driver’s license
• Strong communication Skills

Physical Requirements and Demands:

• Physically capable of accessing project sites for design and construction QA/QC review.
• Ability to work extended hours in various outdoor conditions.
• Walking and standing on various terrain 8-12 hours a day in seasonal weather.
• Ability to climb heights over 200 feet.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to lift 50-100 lbs. with assistance.
• Ability to get in & out of vehicles.
• Fine & gross hand motor skills.
• Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and uneven terrain.
• Ability to use mechanical equipment for heights (basket lifts, platforms, stages, booms, ladders, etc.)
• Prolonged concentration on PC monitor and keyboard use.
• Ability to sit for long periods of time and function in an office environment.
• Weekend and some out of town travel required.
