Commercial Drivers with Lakeshore Recycling Systems operate heavy-duty trucks with front or rear end load lift attachment. Drivers are responsible for providing the pickup service of containers filled with waste or recyclable materials. Containers may weigh in excess of 1000 pounds and at times require drivers to maneuver wheeled containers to a pickup stage area. Driver will transport the material to a disposal, transfer, or recycle facility when trucks reach legal load capacity. You will navigate high traffic and congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots. Highly skilled backing maneuvers are essential too successfully perform this job.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate truck in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
• Service portable restrooms, hand wash stations, and other company equipment to the expectations that meet or exceed the company’s standards for service.
• Complete assigned routes.
• Communicate with dispatch as route changes or issues arise
• Maintain and update route sheets.
• Conduct pre-trip/post trip vehicle inspections
• Maintain and update drivers log sheets.
• Professional interaction with internal and external customers.
• Keeping truck clean and operating properly within driver’s ability.
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have a valid Class B CDL or higher.
• Must have or a valid DOT Medical Card or obtain prior to hire.
• Must pass company Physical Fitness Exam.
• Must pass pre-employment drug test.
• Must successfully complete pre-employment background check.
• Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.

Environmental Factors

• Exposure to extreme weather conditions.
• Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
• Possible exposure to high traffic conditions while outside of the vehicle.

Physical Requirements

• Must be physically able to enter/climb and leave truck cab frequently.
• Must have the manual dexterity required to operate controls on truck.
