Overview:
The Director of Merchandising will use strong collaboration and strong influencing skills and will assist in the development and implement global activewear’s overall merchandising vision, strategy & tactics resulting in sustainable, profitable growth and brand health in a matrix organization. A key leadership position in the organization, this role will ensure we have the right product assortment, at the right location, at the right time and at the right price and help drive our corporate sustainability goals. This role will work cross-functionally throughout the activewear organization. We will have merchants in China, Japan, US, EMEA, LATAM, AUS report into the function and to the regional leads. Solid into region dotted into this position (at least 8 merchants). Footwear and Apparel experience will be an asset as we seek to ensure Champion shows up as one brand. The role will also be responsible for working with the senior leadership team to help identify new and innovative products for an increasingly diverse product line. Responsibilities:

- Provide leadership and functional excellence in the development of the global Activewear merchandising strategy and execution. Lead the creation and implementation of consumer-right assortments across multiple channels/tiers from seasonal kick-off through go to market.
- Manages calendar discipline and is an active participant in global S & OP inputs and process
- Drives collaborative; effective cross functional relationships across & innovation, especially with Regional merchant partners
- Assist leadership in managing product life cycle, incorporating innovation flow and introduction
- Implement a strong working knowledge of active apparel and the active consumer with the ability to identify marketplace, consumer and business trends in order to gain alignment with cross-functional partners on the category vision while driving consistent, profitable growth.
- Partner with design, marketing and sourcing teams to ensure the assortment is on-trend, consumer-right and cost-viable for HBI.
- Work closely and in partnership with brand marketing and consumer insights team to realize brand visions and full potential through product clarity, consumer’s path to purchase shifts, innovation and in-market execution
Minimum Experience and Education Required:
- BA/BS Degree with 10+ years; Masters degree/MBA with 8+years in merchandising, product development, integrated retail and/or buying experience with global scope
- 10+ years of experience working in a cross-functional environment, interacting, influencing and managing teams globally
- Proficient in assortment planning, retail acumen, marketplace/consumer knowledge and line planning
- Proven experience working cross functionally and with various levels of leadership
- Proven ability to ideate and apply creative thinking (retail execution, concepts, color application, visual presentation and development)
- Ability and experience traveling and working globally
- Strong influence skills
- Strong Communication and interpersonal skills
