Position Description: Director of Youth and Families

Purpose: To partner with the Spiritual Growth committee in developing and directing ministry to children and youth and their families through education, encouragement, worship, mission, and discipleship. This is a part time position working 20 hours per week for the church.

Responsibilities:
A. Direct Youth programs for Middle and High School

1. Provide leadership, enthusiasm, and vision for the students and families of our congregation that conveys our vision of Faith in Motion and upholds the positions and polity of the PC(USA) denomination and First Presbyterian.

2. Develop, organize and direct a program of activities for Middle and High school students. It will include, but not be limited to regular meetings, activities, education, service, relationship building, trips, and camps.

3. Conduct near weekly group functions with MS and HS students during the school year.

4. Provide experiential and benchmark activities each year (retreat, lock ins, camp, mission, etc.)

5. Partner with the Spiritual Growth committee in teaching confirmation every 2-3 years as needed

6. Encourage and train parents and other adults to be involved in intergenerational youth ministry

B. Assist the Spiritual Growth Committee in planning programs for children

1. Assist in leading volunteers in planning and promoting family-based spiritual growth for families of children

2. Coordinate volunteers for weekly Young Children in Worship program during worship

C. Model an active and developing Christian faith

1. Attend weekly worship and all-church functions

2. Commit to seeking to follow Christ in word, thought, and deed.

3. Be familiar with and adhere to the current polity and positions of the PC(USA) and First Presbyterian Church of Petoskey

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
