Our Environmental Protection Technical Services team is seeking a dynamic Environmental Scientist with a desire to work hard and take on the role of a Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Subject Matter Expert (SME) and be a contributing member of a great team.
Responsibilities for this role will include:
- Monitor changing regulatory requirements, communicate these changes to affected staff, and initiate procedural changes and changes to the RM system as required to implement these changes.
- Assist CPCCo personnel in identification and implementation of environmental requirements.
- Review and approve documents that define processes, specify requirements, or establish design when necessary.
- Review documents, including revisions, for adequacy, completeness, and correctness before they are released by authorized personnel.
- Provide interface and support to line management to ensure contract, federal and state regulations, codes, standards and specification requirements are implemented and customer objectives and expectations are being satisfactorily achieved in their respective area.
- Prepare permit applications, permit modifications and other regulatory documents as required by EP procedures, or as requested; or provide input/review to prepared permit applications and documents between the Projects and Ecology with permit files requests via Secure Access Washington (SAW).
- Coordinate CPCCo input for Hanford Site-wide regulatory reports.
- Provide interpretation of compliance with permitting and/or approved regulatory documents and consults with environmental counsel as applicable (TSCA, Solid Waste).
- Interact with the WA Dept. of Ecology in support of CPCCo Projects and RL.
- Review corrective action issues via iCAS and comment on assigning relevant environmental trend codes (tracking and trending).
- CPCCo Point of Contact for the following: PCB Annual Report, Annual Dangerous Waste Report and Annual RCRA Permit Underground Pipe Mapping and Marking Report.
- Grant Ignitable or Reactive Wastes Annual Inspection waivers.
- Maintain the online Inventory Lists for the CPCCo Central Accumulation Areas, the Satellite Accumulation Areas and the Universal Waste Collection Areas.
- Technical Authority and Alternate Technical Authority for CPCCo Environmental Procedures.
- Participate in DOE Consolidated Audit Program (DOECAP) offsite audits as the Environmental Compliance/Permitting auditor.
- Perform work in a safe, compliant, and cost-effective manner.
Basic Qualifications
* Career Level Grade 18: BA/BS Degree in Environmental Science, Biological/Physical Sciences, Geology, Hydrology, Geosciences, Engineering or related fields, plus a minimum of 6 years related experience.
- Senior Level Grade 20: BA/BS Degree in Environmental Science, Biological/Physical Sciences, Geology, Hydrology, Geosciences, Engineering or related fields, plus a minimum of 10 years related experience.
The higher posted level has greater scope, complexity, authority, impact. The level offered to the selected candidate will be based on the needs of the company and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience.
- US Citizen.
Desired Qualifications
* Technical writing of environmental reports/documents including field sampling and analysis plans.
- Advanced understanding of environmental regulations and programs such as RCRA and CERCLA.
- Ability to work within a structured team environment on special and routine tasks for completing the contract scope.
Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with the CPCCo salary determination process, CPCCo takes into consideration the level of assigned job duties and responsibilities, and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience relative to internal peers and the external labor market. CPCCo will not solicit salary history for candidates.
Expected annualized pay range based on 40 hours per week:
- Career Level Grade 18: $101,525 - $128,075
- Senior Level Grade 20: $122,813 - $154,838
In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for variable pay awards.
