Family Engagement and Comprehensive Services Coordinator Description:

At the YMCA of Greater Boston, the Family Engagement and Comprehensive Services Coordinator ensures delivery of and/or referral to comprehensive services that promote the overall health and wellbeing of students across our five UPK programs. Comprehensive services include those related to social-emotional and physical development that are essential in enabling children to be available and engaged in learning.


Family Engagement and Comprehensive Services Coordinator
Responsibilities:

  • Weekly support for UPK teaching teams in the five UPK programs.
  • Planning for the delivery of and/or referral to comprehensive services, including, but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, hearing, nutrition, clothing, mental health, specialty therapies, immigration services and workforce supports.
  • Creating development opportunities to identify and support families with additional service needs.
  • Assist the center director and teachers on child assessments using Teaching Strategies Gold twice per year, and offer family conferences to discuss assessment results. Work with BPS to crosswalk report cards with assessment tool results.
  • Support the developmental screening using the ASQ development screen tool and ASQ professional development and technical support provided by BPS
  • Review applications and assist with reasonable accommodations to serve any child with a disability. Work directly with BPS in situations where accommodations seem unreasonable, and notify parent(s) of decisions.
  • Use BPS Child Find screening to refer eligible children for special education evaluations, collaboration and coordination around the delivery of IEP services for eligible children and alignment of supplemental comprehensive services that further support needs.
  • Plan for maintaining a record of and monitor the number of English Language Learner children.
  • Responsible for the identification, enrollment, attendance and academic success of children who are experiencing homelessness. Act as the homeless liaison with Homeless Education Resource Network (HERN). Work with HERN and BPS to secure attendance waivers for children experiencing homelessness, as needed.
  • Ensure children with IEPs are receiving education in least restrictive environments.


Family Engagement and Comprehensive Services Coordinator Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Education/Education, Human Services, Business, Social Services, or relevant field of study preferred.
  • Must have a demonstrated record of accomplishment in the areas of youth development, family engagement, and comprehensive services.
  • Experience with ACA & NAEYC accreditation preferred.
  • Programs must be achieving key metrics and producing meaningful qualitative results including by QRIS progression, net-promoter scores, licensure compliance and other experience metrics.
  • Superior Communication skills - both written and verbal.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the nature of the YMCA movement, volunteers and staff in the accomplishment of the YMCA goals, objectives and mission in the community.
  • Possess a concern for detail and accuracy and have the ability to delegate responsibility.
  • Must be highly motivated and possess a positive attitude towards the YMCA, character development and our mission.


Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.


Work Environment:

  • Evening and/or early morning, and/or weekend hours required periodically.
  • The spring/early summer and late summer/early fall are key enrollment dates.
  • Family Engagement and Comprehensive Services Coordinator is required to ensure appropriate senior leadership coverage at their home and assigned branches/program locations.
  • Occasional travel required.
