Job Summary:
This University of Colorado, Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes Research Services Professional will assist with the management of grants, contracts, internal funds as well as all applicable finance and procurement policies. This position will ensure grant expenses are incurred according to the budget, will do the close-out management including project clean-up and financial reconciliation and ensuring all reporting requirements are met. In addition, will also manage procurement activities for the Division, and other accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Upon issuance of awards, works closely with Office of Grants and Contracts (OGC) finance team to establish fund accounts, and the disbursement of subcontracts.
- Support faculty with financial reporting, best practices, budget constraints and spending trends.
- Provide financial projection forecasting and interpret data for faculty (one-on-one frequent meetings).
- Enters all funding distributions, Journal Entries and Payroll Expenses Transactions for the Division, and clears funding deficits.
- Submit, monitor, and review internal finance reconciliations utilizing finance systems and databases (e.g., effort reporting, award closeouts, etc.).
- Perform routine audits of payroll as well as other laboratory expense transactions for faculty, fellows, and staff to ensure expenses are properly calculated and encumbered in their appropriate accounts.
- Collaborate with OGC Accounting, subcontractors, and external agencies, regarding payment of invoices and requesting no-cost extensions.
- Collects data and prepares tables for NIH training grants.
- Assists with preparing clinical trials budgets.
- Conducts pre-award review in OnCore.
- Coordinates team science/training projects including disseminating requests for proposals and assisting with review meetings.
- Acts as the Division’s Procurement/Travel subject matter expert.
- Assist with processing reimbursements on Concur, purchasing via Marketplace (CU systems), and Procurement Card.
- Ensures ePERs’ are certified on a timely basis.
- Reconciles non-sponsored funds such as philanthropic and other internal sources.
- Assists with cost study preparation for Division Service Centers/ Cores.
- Assists with the management of divisional financial commitments.
- Preparation/deposit of checks.
- Other administrative duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Intermediate Level:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, business, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
- One (1) year of experience in administration of grants and contracts.
- Deep understanding of a grant’s lifecycle.
- Extensive experience with Excel.
Senior Level:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, business, or a directly related field from an accredited institutionA combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
- Two (2) years of experience in administration of grants and contracts.
- Deep understanding of a grant’s lifecycle.
- Extensive experience with Excel.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five (5) or more years of experience in post-award management for complex sponsored grants and contracts spanning top agencies and mechanisms.
- Experience working in higher education.
- Experience working in the University of Colorado system.
- Experience with CU systems such as mFIN, Marketplace and Concur
- Pre-Award experience.
- Experience with clinical trials administration.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range for this position has been established as:
Intermediate Level: $47,992 - $61,045
Senior Level: $51,883 - $65,995
The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
