Job description
Site/Program: Based out of DSCS Administrative Office.
Reports to: Director of Human Resources
Compensation: 70,000 commensurate with experience. Full-time, exempt position. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, life insurance and optional retirement, flexible spending account, commuter benefits, and generous vacation with Summer Recess and Winter Recess.

Position Summary:
Dolores Street Community Services, a progressive social justice organization dedicated to promoting a just and inclusive society, is seeking a Human Resources Generalist. DSCS is in its 40th year of operation with almost 150 employees and a budget of $14.5 million dollars This is a key role in the administration of DSCS. This role is responsible for supporting a range of programs including learning and development, employee communications, and employee engagement. The individual in this role will be driven, creative and organized, with the ability to communicate at multiple levels across the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supports the Director of Human Resources in the design, implementation and administration of multiple HR programs, systems, and procedures.
- Performs onboarding and training.
- Manages benefits and HRIS systems administration.
- Maintains personnel records.
- Processes payroll with Accounting team.
- Handles garnishment with responding requirement and set up for payroll deduction.
- Attend employee counseling meetings and retain documentation.
- Coordinates health and safety activities.
- Manage worker's compensation by filing claims and follow through with return-to-work program.
- Facilitate trainings
- Translates Spanish/English as needed.
Other Organizational Duties
- Conduct business in accordance with the DSCS Employee Handbook, exercising sound judgment and serving the best interests of the agency and the community
- Work within the framework of the agency's mission, vision, values, theory of change, and organization's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, restorative justice, trauma-informed work, and language justice.
- Commit yourself to treating each community member with respect and dignity
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience Desired
- Human Resources generalist experience
- Minimum of 3 years human resources experience and Bachelor's Degree in related field, or equivalent combination of related education and professional experience.
- Knowledge of Federal, State and San Francisco employment related laws and ordinances
- Ability to handle a high volume of activity in a fast-paced environment and independently prioritize with acute attention to detail, accuracy and organization.
- Ability to solve problems and exercise good judgment in implementing and applying policies appropriately
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (professional and diplomatic interactions)
- Vaccination and booster required
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Bilingual in spoken and written Spanish, required
