Reporting to the Lead Machinery Mover, Corovan Machinery Moving, and the Machinery Mover II Driver is responsible for performing machinery functions as directed by the Lead Machinery Mover and/or Machinery Mover Onsite Supervisor for commercial machinery moves. In addition, this position will require driving trucks up to Class A commercial license.
Assists with a variety of functions with manual labor tasks as needed. Require loading and unloading trucks from loading dock, using ramps or on lift-gates and using a variety of heavy lift equipment and forklifts. May assists the machinery process by communicating with Lead Machinery Mover, Machinery Mover Onsite Supervisor, account managers, the end users/customer and other crewmembers. May perform supervisory and leadership functions including general manual labor, loading, unloading, lifting, and moving machines and equipment, as well as non-machinery related items.
In addition, this position may be responsible to train staff (hands-on training) to ensure quality work is performed, and most importantly, responsible to ensure the customer’s complete satisfaction.
Machinery Mover II Driver is also responsible for reporting and escalating any related issues about the project to the Lead Machinery Mover, Machinery Mover Onsite Supervisor, Business Development Manager, Corovan Machinery Moving and dispatch. Typically reports to the Lead Machinery Mover, Corovan Machinery Moving, but may be given directions from the Machinery Mover Onsite Supervisor, Dispatcher, Operations Supervisor, Operations Manager and or Transportation Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Assignments (On-site):
- Checks for start time (for next day’s work schedule) with dispatch daily.
- Arrives at Corovan dispatch office (or on-site), in complete uniform every day.
- Obtains daily work assignments from dispatch or Lead Machinery Mover.
- Manages medium to large-sized and complex machinery moving projects to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
- Reads and understands moving plans and identify starting locations, egress paths, staging locations, destination locations, as well as changes.
- Knows and understands road and weight restrictions and surface restrictions to ensure compliance and safety.
- Sets, offsets, pushes, pulls, lifts, carries and moves machinery, equipment and boxes as required.
- Properly loads and unloads trucks using forklifts, cranes or using ramps or on lift-gates to protect goods being moved and supervises others doing the same.
- Completes all paperwork accurately and neatly and turns into operations daily.
- Handles and stages machines, performs detail work, anchoring & leveling and trash-out functions on machinery projects.
Driver duties:
- As a qualified and approved driver, drives trucks up to and including Class A vehicles.
- Must follow the procedure and complete the Vehicle Inspection Form if driving company vehicles and is enrolled in the DMV Pull-Notice program.
- Performs pre-trip check and safely drives vehicles up to and including, Class A tractor-trailer and Class C bobtails.
Inventory and Maintenance:
- Must be able to identify and inventory all machines and equipment that may be moved or stored.
Customer Relations:
- Maintain excellent customer service with the customers, sales, transportation, warehouse, and operation teams to establish solid relationships.
- Must be punctual at all times. If an emergency arises, inform the dispatcher immediately, so that appropriate coverage can be arranged.
- Must work cooperatively with all members of the crew.
- Must be courteous, helpful, and professional to all existing and potential customers.
Engagement:
- Ensure interactions with crew and customers are professional at all times to promote company’s values and expectations.
- Proactively engage employees to promote a positive work environment.
- Must be encouraging and helpful to the crew by treating them with respect and find solutions to their questions, for example, location and work hours.
- Any negative encounter, including discipline, should immediately be diffused to avoid further escalation, and resolved off-site or in a private office.
Training:
- May assist with training of employees in compliance with company policy, to include on-the-job training, and provide feedback to operations team with regards to deficiencies for additional training classes needed.
- Must be familiar with and able to train others using various machinery equipment and its proper usage such as dollies, carts, pads, straps, pallet jacks, forklifts, ramps, lift gates, and all specialty equipment including but not limited to roll-a-lifts, Genie lifts safe jacks, J bars, heel bars, gantry’s, come-a-long etc., etc.
Safety:
- Performs work with quality, efficiency and safety at all times.
- Trains crews in proper handling and safety techniques.
- Ensure crews are adhering to all safety rules; to include proper safety equipment PPE, drive forklifts safely (seatbelt, slow speeds, ensuring trucks are chalked and using proper plates, etc.).
- Provide daily safety briefings (safety huddles) with crew, at the beginning of each job, to be in compliance with company policy.
- Report all safety concerns immediately to operations team.
- Other duties: If also a qualified and approved driver, drives trucks up to and including Class A vehicles. Must follow the procedure and complete the Vehicle Inspection Form if driving company vehicles.
- Follow all confidentiality rules regarding any products or services that you see at a customer’s move site.
- Follow all security rules for the company and assigned customers.
- Must be respectful of rules at each customer site as to where to work, and adhere to meal and rest period policy.
- Must follow all confidentiality rules with regards to any products or services that are visible at the move site.
- Promote Corovan’s Mission and Vision Statements, including promoting compliance with company policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Must be familiar with basic systems machinery and its movement and placement.
- Must be able to produce detailed inventories of all goods exposed to on machinery moving projects.
- Preferably be able to accurately estimate any sized machinery move to determine manpower, trucks, and equipment necessary to complete the tasks.
- Must be qualified to do complex machinery of heavy and bulky machines in accordance with Cal OSHA standards with regards to pre-inspection of equipment, safe operating practices, material handling and use.
- Must be familiar with the O&I (Office & Industrial) move process and understand the move labeling.
- Must complete Project Manager I, II & III Level Corovan University training and pass the written tests.
- Must be able to obtain Rigger certification per NCCCO for Rigger I & II and maintain certification.
- Must complete Driver I and II Level Corovan University training and pass all the written tests.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Active Class A commercial vehicle license and medical card, and a valid driving record that meets the company’s insurance carrier’s requirements.
- Three (3) to Five (5) years’ experience in commercial machinery preferably in commercial moving industry.
- Must be able to obtain certified forklift operator license.
- Must be able to maintain commercial Class A license and commercial medical card.
- Certified forklift operator license required for the equipment being used.
- Must maintain NCCCO Machinery Mover II certification.
- Must be enrolled in the DMV Pull-Notice program.
- One (1) to two (2) years’ experience in rigging in construction or similar industry.
Preferred:
- Experience driving with Class A license in a commercial environment.

- Temp/Weather: Works in either 1) Office environment - for the most part ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment, and 2) Warehouse – may be exposed to hot or cold temperature, and construction zones, 3) Outside - may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions and hot or cold.
- Noise: Works in office, warehouse, construction zones or outside environment, with constant or intermittent noise.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
- Hourly, full time non-exempt, regular position.
- Employees might be required to work late evenings or weekends depending on the business needs.
- All Overtime must be approved by manager before working.
- Must be able to work 7 days a week including holidays.
TRAVEL:
This position requires 35% of time to travel around the local area; percent may increase depending upon customer assignment. A valid CA Driver’s License is required for this position.
