Note: We are moving to a new location: 601 Stony Battery Road, Landisville, PA and this role will be in this new location starting January 2022.
The Materials Distribution Supervisor position is responsible for the creation, implementation, and management of the optimal flow of parts from receiving to line side consumption utilizing lean practices. Directs the activities of materials associates involved in the receiving, stocking, picking and timely movements within the entire campus, and is a shop-floor based position that requires the constant drive for improvement in all areas of material handling including compliance of documented policies and procedures. In concert with operations and engineering, position will optimize the physical layout, placement, and storage of material throughout the facility. The position shall provide leadership and change management skills to move the culture and team to the highest level of performance.
Job Responsibilities
- Purposefully and consistently conduct themselves within the structure of the guiding principles and mission statement of the company
- Lead all Material Distribution and/or Material Handling associates
- Interact with internal external Customers
- Understand the principles of Plan For Every Part
- Work with engineering to design optimal delivery routes and the visual management systems required to operate
- Maintain a working knowledge of all operating systems pertaining to the materials and manufacturing
- Work with IST to integrate systems required to optimize the use of MRP information that improves material flow
- Reduce waste of man, machine, and method to ensure best practices
- Establishes and maintains department standards for productivity, reliability, and accuracy
- Improvement of actionable policies and procedures to be flawlessly followed and to be recorded in EBS data base
- Successfully build strong relationships with the operations and engineering teams to ensure harmony in the handoff process
- Provides direction on customer changes that affect materials
- Provides direction if there is a failure in the flow of materials
- Teach lean principles and obtain cultural buy-in towards the materials team’s lean journey
- Maintains a high degree of visibility and access to associates throughout the workday
- Execution of safety requirements including all required safety training for all direct reports
- Manage personnel issues including but not limited to vacation approvals, timecard approval, daily and weekly overtime, hiring, and training
- Maintain accurate inventory
- Maintain and execute 5s and housekeeping activities
- Maintain equipment and fleet management activities. Justify the correct fleet size for the business
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Inbound freight and logistics support
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, logistics, engineering, or supply chain management preferred
- 5 years materials leadership, plan and organize projects
- 5 years of lean experience, materials concentration preferred
- Ability to develop value stream maps for process improvement
- Commitment to a high standard of excellence
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Acute attention to detail
- Proficient on ERP/MRP, MS Office and PC network applications
