Salary or Contract (3-5 days per week)

SUMMARY

Nurse Practitioner will provide continuity of patient care by facilitating and coordinating communication between the healthcare team, patients, and their families. In addition, the NP will team with the physician to evaluate and treat patients identified to have a problem related to substance abuse potential. Using advanced nursing skills to optimize patient care and outcomes, the NP will collaborate with the physician and assume responsibility for the number of general advanced practice professional duties not limited to comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment, counseling, referral, and follow-up.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides primary care to patients and functioning independently to perform
  • age-appropriate history and physical for complex acute, critical, and
  • chronically ill perioperative patients.
  • Performs initial examinations, including physical exams and patient
  • Observations
  • Records acute and chronic medical histories
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient’s
  • age-specific needs.
  • Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic treatment
  • modalities
  • Communicates test results to patients and their POA
  • Implements interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain
  • physiologic stability, including but not limited to serving in the first assisting role.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Facilitates the patient’s transition within and between health care settings
  • such as admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate
  • referrals.
  • Documents patient care in a timely manager
  • Operates and maintains medical equipment
  • Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by providing educational
  • tools.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years of Nurse Practitioner experience working with people with
  • severe and persistent mental illness.
  • Master’s degree from an accredited nursing program.
  • Licensed and registered as a Nurse Practitioner in the District of Columbia and

board-certified by either ANCC or AANP.

  • Prescriptive authorization.
  • Experience providing primary care as a family nurse practitioner.
  • Proficiency with medical instruments and equipment required to perform your work.
  • Knowledge of computer-based data management programs and information
  • systems, as well as medical records and point-of-interview technology.
  • A sound understanding of all pertinent federal and state regulations, including
  • HIPAA and OSHA.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of disease prevention:- Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Pay: $115,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
