GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

North Country HealthCare is a primary care, out-patient federally qualified health center. Our clinic OBGYN providers perform deliveries and take call at Flagstaff Medical Center (FMC). This position, however, would only be responsible for FMC (hospital) call and would provide comprehensive health care for women in the inpatient setting, including pregnant and gynecologic patients. Call is a 24-hr shift and is sometimes taken independently and sometimes in conjunction with a midwife. The Laborist/Hospitalist may also supervise and teach medical students and resident physicians in the inpatient clinical setting. This position could be full-time or on a PRN basis.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Fosters a cooperative work environment and works collaboratively with other providers in the care of patients.
  • Provides timely, clear, concise, accurate, and legible documentation regarding patient care in the medical record.
  • Performs an accurate history and physical examination of patients. Orders and interprets tests, treatments, and therapies. Integrates evidence-based knowledge and clinical expertise in decision-making.
  • Participates in peer review and competency assessment activities. Demonstrates accountability for professional conduct. Advances professionalism by seeking opportunities to develop new skills and to enhance current ones.
  • May provide education and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students as well as current and new employees, including but not limited to medical staff, residents, advanced practice providers, Certified Nurse Midwives, Family Medicine providers, and nursing.
  • May develop programs to meet continuing education needs of staff.
  • Consults with management in assessment, problem-solving, decision-making, and evaluating clinical//system issues and models of care. Identifies and participates in quality-improvement initiatives within the practice setting and initiates change as appropriate. May participate in the development and revision of protocols or guidelines to reflect evidence-based changes in care management.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Have earned an MD or DO degree and completed an OBGYN residency. Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible and have two years of experience post-residency.
  • Must obtain and maintain privileges to practice at Flagstaff Medical Center.
