OVERVIEW
The National Hockey League seeks a Paralegal to assist with litigation, labor law, corporate and other legal matters, including health and safety programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Draft memoranda and surveys as requested.
- Update and maintain certain databases and spreadsheets to remain current.
- Perform non-legal research using various research tools, including the internet.
- Assist with preparation for meetings, hearings, and other matters.
- Assist with document productions, transactions and/or closings as needed.
- Track compliance on various initiatives. Communicate with club personnel as requested to follow-up.
- Organize and manage electronic and paper files.
- Maintain master calendar of outstanding tasks on health and safety related projects and other areas, as requested.
- Process invoices and expense reimbursements.
- Perform other related duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree and minimum four years experience as a paralegal.
- Paralegal certificate preferred.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational and planning skills.
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive matter with discretion, maintain confidentiality, and to exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a team.
- Ability to assume progressive responsibilities within assigned work as experience is gained in the position.
- Ability to complete projects in a timely, efficient and effective manner, and to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrates close attention to detail and high level of commitment to quality work product.
- Strong research skills as well as knowledge of relevant computer software programs (e.g., outlook, excel, powerpoint), with the ability to navigate electronic databases and document repositories.
- Flexibility to work nights and weekends when necessary and to travel for business when necessary
