This position will lead and develop outstanding programming to meet LCRA Parks’ goal of being the most dynamic park system in the nation. You will be trusted to:
- Develop, coordinate and lead educational and adventure based outdoor activities that are innovative, modern, diverse while being sustainable.
- Conduct pre-program orientation with participants ensuring all safety and health measures are being followed.
- Assists in development of programs and the hiring of seasonal workers. Working with the program supervisor this position plans and conducts in-service trainings for seasonal staff.
- Respond to comments, questions and complaints from leadership and customers.
- Prepare and analyze reports that address the success of each program offered and make recommendations for program improvements.
- Evaluate programs facilitated by other staff to ensure they are aligned with LCRA parks goals.
- Conduct inspections of all required equipment. Clean and store equipment after programs. Inventory, repair and maintain equipment and supplies to ensure safe operations.
- Skill in verbal and written communication, including effectively communicating information to other staff as well as large audiences
- Provide outstanding service to visitors and teammates, while operating with integrity and a focus on safety
- Proficient in developing creative and engaging age-appropriate curriculum and program offerings
- Skill in safe operation of recreational equipment (e. g., truck, trailer, boat, ATV, golf cart, E-Bike, kayak, SUP etc.)
- Skill in providing outstanding communication and customer service
- Proficient in office applications (such as email, electronic timesheets, etc.)
- Ability to work efficiently, both collaboratively and independently with minimal direction
- Obtains ACCT Challenge Course Facilitator Level I certification.
You qualify with:
- Nine or more years of related experience. A degree(s) in natural science, education, recreation or a relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
- Driver's license
You are a great fit with:
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate activities for children
- Knowledge of natural science subjects of Central Texas and knowledge of TEKS.
- Knowledge of water-based recreation and challenge course programs
- Knowledge of operating and maintaining budgets
- Skill in creating and delivering presentations
- Skill in articulating complex, technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Skill in meeting deadlines and multi-tasking
- Skill in creating a productive and harmonious work environment with co-workers, supervisors, and manager
- Intermediate skill level in office productivity applications (such as e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.)
- Familiarity working with various booking & customer communication platforms
- Ability to balance and manage competing high priority work demands
- Ability to work in both a collaborative team environment and individually
- Ability to motivate children and adults
- Experience leading and developing outstanding adventure-based experiences for various user groups
- Knowledge and experience developing and leading camps.
