Apex is seeking a meticulous and knowledgeable Payroll & Benefits Manager. As Payroll & Benefits Manager at Apex, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate processing of payroll as well as the management of all employee data and benefits inside our custom-built HRIS system. You will have responsibility for answering payroll and benefit questions from team members with accuracy and a focus on service. You will work as part of a close-knit ‘work family’ and earn the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities in a dynamic, high growth healthcare services environment. You will have the opportunity to see the impact of your work as you delight your teammates by clearing roadblocks so that they can provide outstanding patient care. We believe strongly in continuous improvement, and you will be an active participant in identifying opportunities to improve.
Core responsibilities include:
- Ensure timely processing of all new hires, promotions, and terminations in our custom HRIS system
- Manage payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of payroll
- Research questions regarding payroll/benefits from teammates and leadership
- Work in collaboration with third party benefit providers to update enrollments
- Respond to requests for employment verifications, wage garnishments and reports in accordance with state and federal laws
- Perform special assignments, projects, and other duties as required
Job Requirements:

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Understand and appreciate the responsibility of handling highly confidential and sensitive payroll and benefits information
- Working knowledge of payroll best practices as well as benefits programs and administration
- Knowledge of and experience with Excel preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, human resources, or related field
- 2-4 years of payroll and/or HR experience
