Job description
The Payroll Manager is responsible for the payroll at One Hope United by managing the payroll preparation; completing reports; maintaining and auditing all payroll entries while ensuring compliance with internal policies and state and federal regulations. This position requires solid communication skills, ability to multi-task and maintain strong relationships with employees and outside agencies.
Job Duties Include:
- Directs the Payroll Specialist on a daily basis to ensure bi-weekly payrolls are processed timely and accurately
- Processes all payroll information including garnishment administration, earnings, taxes, and deductions to ensure all work complies with the Agency’s policies in addition to Federal; State, and local wage and tax laws
- Works cooperatively and provides quality customer service to all employees within the Agency
- Assists with external audits by providing supporting records and documentation
- Performs monthly reconciliation of payroll earnings, cash analysis, and bank reconciling items for review by the Controller
- Works on all aspects of year-end processing for accurate and timely distribution of W-2 statements
- Prepares, reconciles, and generates payroll reports for the annual Worker’s Compensation audit
- Provides various payroll reports and analysis requested by management
- Ensures accuracy of payroll system calculations and time management system
- Trains agency staff as appropriate on payroll system
- Creates salary matrix for use in grant reporting
- Maintains policies and procedures for payroll processes
- Creates monthly payroll statistics for review by Finance leadership
- Acts as backup to process payroll
- Prepares all special projects in a timely & accurate manner
Qualifications
Education
- BA/BS degree
Experience
- 5-7 years of experience in electronic payroll system experience preferred
Required Skills
1. Possess excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
2. Working experience of multi state payroll tax at the federal, state and local levels.
3. Ability to adapt to changing work priorities while meeting deadlines and schedules with frequent interruptions.
4. Setting priorities for the payroll team.
5. Maintaining confidentiality.
6. Advanced skills in Excel.
7. Previous experience in a non-profit agency is preferred.
8. Excellent interpersonal skills as well as good verbal and written communication skills
9. Willingness to be a dynamic team member.
10. Strong computer skills and knowledge of relevant technology.
11. Willingness to learn about all areas in the agency.
