Job Summary


The Academic Technology team at the Maricopa Community Colleges is seeking a dynamic analytics leader who is excited by the opportunity to collect, analyze, interpret, report and maintain enterprise data. This role leads a team of analysts that support customers in the understanding and use of data for critical, enterprise-wide decision making. This position serves as a subject matter expert in district databases, metric methodology, and data reporting/visualization. In this role, you will oversee, inspire, support and contribute to a team that develops complex queries using SQL, Tableau and other modern tools to support enterprise-wide analysis and the development of compelling and effective data visualization solutions.

Essential Functions


35% - Directs and develops the delivery and implementation of analytics solutions for District and College customers, which includes the creation of advanced data visualization solutions including dashboards, workbooks, and reports; directs, oversees and contributes to the engineering of highly technical developer and power user resources including published data sources, database views and other relevant products. Oversees and contributes to the development of research papers and highly visible reports used by district-wide leaders and executives including College Presidents and the Board.

35% - Manages a team of analysts that perform complex analysis to ensure accurate reporting for highly visible internal analytics products; plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews, and evaluates the work of staff; participates in and approves staff selection; mentors and coaches staff members; identifies training needs and professional growth opportunities; develops and implements quality control processes to ensure accuracy in reporting; provides support and develops strategy for customer service engagements, backlog refinement, and product delivery

20% - Serves as the subject matter expert (SME) to provide complex analytics and problem-resolution to a district-wide group of leaders within assigned areas to provide concierge data services (e.g. Financial Aid, Advising, Admissions, Enrollment Management, etc); provides solutions to create an interactive environment for power users and viewers to access the data they need; develops and provides training for customers and analytics professionals within the assigned SME area; advances Maricopa’s analytics with the assigned area by creating relevant, timely, and strategic products

10% - Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in any field and six (6) years of progressively responsible experience administering institutional effectiveness programs and activities, which includes two years of supervisory experience.

Or

Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in any field and eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience administering institutional effectiveness programs and activities, which includes two years of supervisory experience.

Or

High School Diploma/GED and ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience administering institutional effectiveness programs and activities, which includes two years of supervisory experience.

Desired Qualifications


A. Advanced experience using Tableau

B. Experience working in a Tableau Server environment

C. Experience working with a variety of large, complex data sources

D. Experience with querying languages such as SQL or a scripting language such as Python

E. Experience providing training support to other analytics professionals

F. Experience providing quality assurance support to other analytics professionals

Special Working Conditions


These positions may be Remote (within the Phx area) or Virtual (outside the Phx area).
