Hawker Pacific Aerospace, Sun Valley, CA is seeking a Quality Process Engineer to support its ENGINEERING - MPL & DEVELOPMENT department. Selected applicant will be responsible for engineering activities related to the overhaul and maintenance of aircraft components.

A Quality Process Engineer may be assigned to one or more departments depending upon the company needs at the time.

Essential Duties:
This individual has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned task. May be assigned some or all duties indicated below depending on job progression level.

  • Responsible for maintaining all Component related maintenance documentation, including revisions and deviating procedures (exchange material, test and dimensional limits, shop and repair procedures, etc.) in accordance with the authority or customer.
  • Responsible for creation and maintenance of Maintenance Job Cards and Technical Maintenance Record sheets.
  • Support capability build up for new Landing Gear and Component types
  • Resolve discrepancies involving planning requirements identified by customer or authority audits; Coordinate with other managers to take necessary action to correct deficiencies occurring in the overhaul, repair, and special processes.
  • Develop proper quality standards for all repair and overall processes.
  • Demonstrate competency in supporting company goals through continuous improvement in a visible and positive manner which increases productivity and reduces costs.
  • Coordinate deviation requirements through concessions with the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer), DER (Designated Engineering Representative (FAA), customer and suppliers.
  • Facilitate and promote use of appropriate problem solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action.
  • Maintains statistical process controls by applying demerit/unit, zone charting, charts for distributions and individual-medial/range for multi-stream processes.
  • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data; making recommendations.
  • Determine when process stability and capability studies should be performed on existing processes. Review and analyze results. Recommend changes to processes based upon findings and perform follow up to verify effectiveness.
  • Keep abreast of the latest changes, i.e. AD Notes, Component Maintenance Manual revisions, and company programs.
  • Provide technical training on maintenance documentation for applicable departments.
  • Design required tooling needed for project or from backlog of tool requests. Determine the part the tool will be used on. Discuss constraints that would affect functionality of tool with mechanic and decide most appropriate course of action (i.e. design new tool, purchase tool from manufacturer, or purchase from the OEM).
  • Research new equipment and technology that can be used to improve shop performance. Research items necessary to perform tasks more effectively..
  • Conduct monthly tooling audits for undocumented or uncontrolled tooling. Resolve uncontrolled tooling issues (e.g. determine whether tool should be documented, replaced, or eliminated).
  • Maintain Tooling and Capability database; assess and resolve any errors in database software, train mechanics on how to use database software.
  • Assist in project planning and provide mechanical design leadership in project execution.
  • Create and release Product Requirements, Design Specifications and Design Descriptions for assigned projects, as required by internal procedures.
  • Research design options and perform experiments to determine potential design feasibility.
  • Interact with global and internal design and manufacturing resources to design for manufacturability, reliability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Review product documentation for accuracy including documentation intended for customer use.
  • Evaluate product non-conformances and recommend design modifications.
  • Achieves PMA for reverse engineered parts
  • Performs other duties as required by business needs.
  • Responsibility to work with LEAN Manufacturing principles.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required. Master’s preferred.

Experience: Engineering Experience Required.

This position may require use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), or both. U.S. Person preferred.
