Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY
  • Works under the supervision of a therapist to perform therapeutic treatment to patients. Assists the therapist in patient care. Transfers and transports patients, assists patients in ADL as directed by the therapists. Participates in providing recreational activities for patients. Assist with MBS studies as directed by the therapists. Prepares, cleans and maintains treatment areas and equipment. Performs housekeeping duties within the department. Is responsible for light clerical duties as deemed necessary. Assists as a rehab team member encouraging and promoting independence of the patient and the patient's family.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • ESSENTIAL
  • Assist Therapist in Treatment of Patients: transfer, transport and assit patients to therapies according to patient schedules; implement the plan of care in a thorough and complete manner under the direction of the therapist to include: patient preparation; gait training;functional training; exercise therapy; ADL functions.
  • Cleaning Duties: all treatment areas and equipment kept clean and orderly; performs routine housekeeping as required; maintains all cleaning and temperature logs.
  • Clerical: records clearly and completely all therapy treatments and time with patients on the appropriate forms; performs light clerical duties as required.
  • Communication: enourage, educate and assist patients to reach their maximum functional level; ensures confidentiality of all patient information.
  • Safety: Demonstrates proper body mechanics when performing tasks and seeks assistance when needed; utilizes universal precautions when appropriate.
  • Work Behavior: responsible, reliable and honest in all patient care and work ethics; demonstrates flexibility in job tasks
  • Professional Growth: attends departmental and hospital inservices; reviews and summarizes one article annually; maintains proper CPR certification.
  • Perform Other Duties as Assigned: orients volunteers; monitors supplies as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet the organization`s needs.
