Job description
A.SCOPE
The Senior Accountant reports to the Accounting Supervisor/Accounting Manager. The overall responsibility is to perform account reconciliations and analyses; create and record journal entries; ensure the integrity of the General Ledger; and assist with the monthly accounting close.
SPECIFIC DUTIES- Monthly reconciliation of cash, clearing, and credit card receivable accounts.
- Monthly reconciliation of Multi-Site Operated (MSO) liabilities.
- Daily monitoring and troubleshooting cash over/short accounts.
- Monthly reconciliation of fuel inventories, C-store inventories, and lottery activity.
- Quarterly reconciliation/analysis of other major balance sheet and P&L accounts.
- Preparation of daily journal entries for banking and recurring transactions.
- Assist A/R Accountant with billing matters.
- Prepare trend analysis of P&L accounts and metrics to identify unusual activity prior to monthly closing process.
- Preparation of certain sales tax filings.
- Assistance with monthly closing process.
- Preparation of schedules and analyses for year-end and statutory audits.
- Other duties as directed by the Controller.
- QUALIFICATIONS
- BS degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Proficient with mid-range ERP environment.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook applications.
- Good interpersonal and communications skills.
- Ability to work in time sensitive, high-pressure environment.
- Ability to work outside office hours when required.
