Critical Tasks:
- Work closely with the Controller, CFO, Staff Grant Accountant, Grant Writer(s) and Grant Program Managers (Department Leaders) for all grant accounting and reporting needs
- Monthly grant expenditure review for grant revenue accruals
- Review monthly/quarterly reimbursement invoices and drawdowns prepared by Staff Grant Accountant
- Review other reporting required by grant agencies including quarterly and annual FFRs
- Prepare / assist with preparing Grant Budgets and monthly review of expenditures comparison to budgets
- Take lead on and assist others with Federal Procurement guidelines and regulations per Uniform Guidance for all purchases and services and assist other departments to also follow these guidelines
a. Debarment & Suspension search verifications
b. Multiple vendor quotes
c. Sole source determinations
d. NN business opportunity preference, Native American/Alaska Native preference, and local vendor preferences
e. Etc.
7. Other accounting and finance duties as needed and as assigned
Requirements:
- Employee satisfaction index, effectiveness of training, performance of new hire, cycle time to resolve errors, a
- Clear, concise verbal and written communications. Timely follow up to voice mail, email and employee inquiry
- Timeliness, attention to detail, creativity and innovation, time management, consistency and initiative.
- Polite and professional interaction with employees. Ensures problems are handled. Offering solutions or options
- Understanding of Navajo culture and traditions or a willingness to learn and understand Navajo culture and tradition
Experience, Training, and Qualifications needed to perform the job:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, or business administration;
- Prior experience working with Federal Grants;
- Knowledge of GAAP
- Knowledge of Federal Procurement regulations per Uniform Guidance;
- Minimum of two (5) years accounting experience with at least 1 year as a senior accountant
- Prior experience working in healthcare a plus but not required
- CPA a plus but not required
Environment Knowledge, Skill and Ability:
- Knowledge and experience of GAAP
- Experience working with Grants
- Knowledge and experience of Federal Uniform Guidance Procurement Standards
- Proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint software applications.
- Strong leadership skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Effective time management skills, ability to meet deadlines and organizational ability Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) audit standards Knowledge of Navajo cultural and tradition
- Ability to work flexible work schedule, as needed

The immunizations/vaccinations include but not limited to following:
- MMR (Measles Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella): Documentation of two MMR vaccines (OR) Documentation of MMR titers.
- Complete Hepatitis B vaccine series (3 doses), documented proof of titers indicating immunity, or a declination that may be signed upon arrival.
- Proof of up-to-date PPD skin testing, if previously negative (OR) Proof of positive PPD skin test with the most recent chest x-ray and treatment history.
- Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap).
- Varicella titers, history of varicella or varicella immunization series.
- Influenza vaccine for the current year.
- COVID-19 vaccine
- Any other vaccinations as requested.
