The Digital Student Solutions (“DSS”) Segment includes direct-to-student product and service offerings to assist students to study more effectively and improve academic performance, thus enabling them to gain the valuable skills necessary to succeed after college. DSS is comprised of the operations of Student Brands, LLC, a leading direct-to-student subscription-based writing services business, and bartleby, a direct-to student subscription-based offering providing textbook solutions, expert questions and answers, AI-based writing assistance, and tutoring services.

Bartleby is a central offering in our developing ecosystem of direct-to-student digital products and services, accessible anytime and anywhere. bartleby.com provides critical services for students to achieve better success throughout their academic journey. The bartleby product offerings consist of bartleby learnTM comprised of textbook solutions (over 1,600 titles), question and answer solutions, and study guides; bartleby writeTM comprised of revision, plagiarism, citation and scoring tools; and bartleby tutorTM comprised of online tutoring services.

Overview:
This position is well suited for an accomplished, self-starter, passionate, hands-on Senior Data Analyst who can immediately contribute through applying their expertise to providing data analysis that drives decision making across the various business areas for bartleby.com all while being the link between Data Warehouse and partnering with the BI team, marketing, product, operations, finance and technology teams.
Responsibilities:
  • Translate business requirements into SQL queries and data pulls to provide reports and dashboards that support decisions about Product (roadmap, new features), Marketing (user acquisition, engagement, retention) and Content. Translate data into a narrative for your stakeholders.
  • Facilitate and align key business stakeholders to sharpen KPIs that drive the business; review key findings with senior leadership on regular basis providing commentary and key insights, translating the data into a narrative
  • Create reports and dashboards that allow product and marketing to respond to student behaviors and trends
  • Perform ad hoc micro and macro analysis to uncover insights around user acquisition, engagement and retention
  • Collaborate with the Agile (Scrum) development team as they bring new features to life, ensuring the measurement apparatus exists behind the deliverables.
  • Participate in shaping the BI analytics/tech stack.
  • Contribute to the data warehouse design and development working with the Data Warehouse DBA
  • Collaborate with teams to integrate data systems/streams for use across the business.
  • This position will require some flexibility in your schedule to interact with the off-shore team (early morning, late evening conference calls).
Qualifications:
  • Experience with current tech stack or similar products:
o DB & DW: MySQL and BigQuery
o BI Tools: Data Studio, Power BI, Looker, Google Analytics
  • Experience with the Google Cloud Products (GTM, GA, BQ)
  • Experience with programming languages: R, Python, SPSS, etc.
  • Exceptional excel skills
  • 5+ years experience in Business Intelligence role with a focus on writing and executing complex SQL queries and using BI visualization tools to inform different stakeholders in the business.
  • 8+ years overall professional/business experience.
  • Prior experience in a a BI, Analytics or Data Warehouse group within a Digital/Tech company (B2C a plus). Startup experience a plus.
  • Prior experience supporting Product Management and (Digital) Marketing teams.
  • Ability to use statistics in translating data to stakeholders.
  • BA/BS (Math, Physics, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics preferred), or equivalent experience, required.
