Position: Senior Line Worker

Location: Fernandina Beach, FL

Among the tasks he/she must perform include the following, but not limited to: working safely with energized lines, stringing and sagging conductors, installing guys and anchors, framing and installing poles, setting and removing transformers, installing secondary and services (overhead and underground), installing cutouts, arresters, insulators, setting pad mounted transformers and other equipment, pulling and removing cable, inspecting transmission and distribution facilities, tracing and locating faults in underground equipment, troubleshooting power outages, and trimming trees and branches that interfere with the power lines.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Daily supervision of line personnel assigned; able to delegate duties and assign tasks. Ensure that duties and assignments are carried out properly and safely.

• Completion of work-related forms such as time sheets, retirement sheets, and meter orders. Check assigned employees forms for completion and accuracy before turning in to Supervisor.

• Learn new operation, maintenance, and construction techniques for electric distribution systems. Teacher to other line personnel.

• Must be well versed in safety.

• Completion of safety courses as offered.

• Conduct job briefings and complete proper forms before work is started.

• Oversee and safely set up and the removal of MOT work zones.

• Participate in the on-call off-hours schedule

• Performs all other duties as assigned by Assistant Operations Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

All employees covered by this agreement in the Operations Section shall reside at his or her permanent residence which is to be located no farther than thirty (30) road miles from 780 Amelia Island Parkway, Fernandina Beach, Florida 32034 and be able to report no later than 45 minutes after the call is received. New or existing employees moving into these sections will have nine (9) months to relocate into this required area.

• Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must possess a minimum of 5 years of Line Worker experience and be proficient in all job requirements of a Line Worker.
• Able to operate air compressors, line trucks, pickups backhoes, trenchers, thumpers chainsaws and other motorized equipment.
• Responsible driving record.
