Job Summary:

The Task Force Leader (TFLD) directs any combination of personnel, crews and different types of Incident Command System (ICS) equipment in performing tactical missions on a division or segment of a division, on incidents. The TFLD reports to a Division/Group Supervisor (DIVS), Incident Commander (IC), or other assigned supervisor. The TFLD works in the Operations functional area. This position does not require relocation, but will need to be available for deployment nationwide.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • The TFLD directs any combination of personnel, crews and different types of Incident Command System (ICS) equipment in performing tactical missions.

Job Classification: Part time, call when needed


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follows the direction of the Operations Section Chief (OSC)
  • Keeps the OSC informed of any potential problems or items of note
  • Model leadership values and principles. Provide positive influence. Emphasize teamwork.
  • Establish and communicate objectives, priorities, work assignments, and performance expectations.
  • Ensure contracted resources have been ordered through the appropriate process and inspected prior to being used and released using the Vehicle/Heavy Equipment Inspection Checklist (OF-296) or other applicable document. Manage contract resources according to contract requirements and agency guidelines. Notify supervisor of any contractual issues.
  • Assess experience level of assigned personnel. Ensure equipment readiness. Ensure performance capabilities and limitations are discussed prior to assignment.
  • Establish accountability and contact procedures for assigned resources during incident travel and when off-duty.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate span of control.
  • econ area of responsibility and assess feasibility of assigned objectives. Consult with the supervisor on resource needs and suggest adjustments as necessary.
  • Develop and implement tactics based on incident objectives, fire behavior, risk assessment and leader's intent.
  • Organize and deploy assigned resources based on established objectives and resource capabilities.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of receiving and distribution required
  • Ability to team build and lead personnel required
  • Ability to compose and present comprehensive reports required

Education and Experience:

  • Successful completion if ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 and 300 is required
  • Successful completion of the Position Specific Course within 1 year is required
  • TFLD credential is preferred
  • Incident response experience is preferred
  • Prior experience serving as a TFLD preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged exposure to sitting or standing for long periods of time
  • Able to work up 12 to 16 hours per day
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
  • Must meet the physical requirements of the position up to and including 14 day deployments

Salary: $52.12 per hour

Pre-employment Requirements:

This position may be contingent upon passing a security clearance, criminal background check (state and federal), drug screen, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review, education verification, employment verification, and/or credit check after acceptance of an offer and prior to beginning work, due to the nature of the services Chloeta provides and the responsibilities of this position.


Drug and Alcohol Testing:

To enforce Chloeta’s Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, an employee or candidate could be subject to undergoing a drug screen and/or alcohol testing at the beginning of employment, as well as after commencement of employment where there is reasonable suspicion of intoxication, or following an automobile or other accident, or as part of a company or facility-wide random drug screen process.


Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA):

Under the FCRA, Chloeta may request a credit check during the onboarding process. A written authorization form will be required before obtaining credit records.


Emergency Response:

Every Chloeta employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official Duty Station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official Position Description (PD). Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
