Overview of the Position:

The Test Engineer will provide engineering analysis, design, build, troubleshooting, acceptance, and documentation for testing new products and improving existing test products for FAA Repair Station operations using OEM and other technical data. Will use a variety of skills to create reliable solutions in a variety of applications involving mechanical and electrical components, wiring, sensors, and test software as applicable. Will Improve existing capabilities with test automation, or other efficiency gains. Will strive to learn new skills and adapt to new challenges. Will interact and collaborate with others including internal Production, Engineering, Quality Assurance team members, and external vendors or fabricators. The Test Engineer has the responsibility and authority to perform assigned tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and build test equipment for repair shop operations.
  • Be key focus and provide expertise on new product introduction.
  • Assist technicians with troubleshooting on products that fail test and work with engineering to improve test yields.
  • Complete appropriate test documentation and certifying to test results.
  • Training other technicians in testing process.
  • Support standardized work adherence and provide ideas for implementation of improvements.
  • Interact in a professional manner with members of internal and external organizations.
  • Research, collect data, and work with design teams to evaluate, select, adapt, and modify techniques, procedures and criteria to solve problems.
  • Research, collect data, create engineering computations and recommend material selection.
  • Create test requirements/data sheets and reports
  • Other duties may also be assigned.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Good communication and problem solving skills for working in a team oriented environment.
  • Ability to provide sufficient substantiation for design substitutions.
  • Ability and experience using common industry repair and troubleshooting tools-Oscilloscopes, multi-meters, power supplies, calipers, micrometers, depth gages, etc
  • Labview (or other integrated development software) experience is a plus, but not required depending on other skills.
  • Experience in PCB Design software a plus, but not required depending on other skills
  • Experience with 3D modeling software such as Solidworks, a plus, but not required depending on other skills.
  • Strong PC skills with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project).
  • Ability to read, write and understand the English language.
  • Must be adaptable and flexible at all times to research and apply knowledge and skills to develop creative solutions to a wide variety of unique design, modification and repair problems
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.

Education / Experience Requirements: Bachelors degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or similar field from a four year college or university, and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents. Ability to generate technical documents according to standard procedures and also provide supplemental information where needed

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fraction, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply mathematical concepts related to engineering principals needed to perform the job requirements.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
