Caribou Thunder Engineering Services is seeking a Kinematic Modeling Lead Engineer to support the Threat Modeling Center that is responsible for the development and delivery of high fidelity threat modeling products in support of MDA and MDA’s Ballistic Missile Defense System.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develops and verifies kinematic threat models and high fidelity ballistic missile and advanced threat models for use in a variety of modeling and simulation tools/framework/media.

Coordinates the Missile Modeling/Kinematic Modeling team activities for day-to-day operations within TMC.

Serves as the customer-facing liaison for customer and internal communications, setting priorities of work and project planning amongst the team, maintenance of the model database, and extensive team management with delegation of tasking based on priorities.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Must have a good understanding of modeling and simulation methods and processes.

Must be able to research, interpret and verify parameters required to build, replicate and propagate missile or space launch trajectories to include staging, debris, counter measures and RV / payload traits.

Must be able to apply standard engineering and mathematical algorithms to ensure the accurate portrayal of expected missile or space launch behavioral characteristics during all phases of powered and un-powered flight.

Must be able to work with little or no direct supervision, work as an integral member of a product delivery team and meet time critical delivery schedules.

Modeling, Simulation, and automation experience.

Programming background to include languages such as MATLAB and Python.

Strong knowledge of the flight characteristics, motion, and performance of ballistic missiles

Must be self-motivated, able to work in a dynamic team environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong math, physics or engineering background is preferred.

Previous experience with modeling flight characteristics, motion, atmospheric dynamics, and missile performance parameters of ballistic missiles is highly desirable.

Strong background in missile system engineering performance is highly desirable.

Mastery of engineering modeling principles behind body motion, trajectory generation, counter measures, and debris is a plus.

Required: Secret

Preferred: Top Secret

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Level 3

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Aeronautics, Physics, or Math plus 5 years of experience

OR Masters plus 3 years of experience

Level 4

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Aeronautics, Physics, or Math plus 9 years of experience

OR Masters plus 7 years of experience
