JOB SUMMARY
The Transportation Aide supports and enhance the guest experience at the Page Community Center with well checks, delivering and driving for all food programs. Work is of a routine nature with limited supervision. Duties may include, but are not limited to, driving a van or bus, delivering meals, assisting kitchen for food serve, cleaning and sanitation of soiled dishes, pots and pans. This position reports directly to the Community Center Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Drives and delivers for current meal programs.
  • Operates 12 passenger vans, transporting passengers on scheduled out of town trips.
  • Maintains an accurate accounting of participants for monthly reports to the Manager.
  • Ensures the safety and security of both the passengers and the vehicle.
  • Demonstrates skill in driving under adverse weather conditions.
  • Demonstrates ability to recognize hazardous road conditions and react appropriately.
  • Performs a variety of miscellaneous duties such as running errands and picking up supplies needed for activities.
  • Maintains inside and outside cleanliness of all Community Center vehicles.
  • Works cooperatively with other employees and volunteers with objective of establishing and maintaining a successful meal program.
  • Dresses in clean appropriate clothing; represents the Community Center Meal Program in a professional manner under all circumstances.
  • Assists the cook daily in serving of the food.
  • In absence of the cooks will help with meal preparation as instructed.
  • Washes dishes, cookware, flatware, and trays using approved procedures.
  • Collects and removes trash and garbage to designated containers.
  • Follows all Coconino County Health Department and AZ Nutrition guidelines. Complies with all Federal, State and County Regulations.
  • Attends training opportunities as available.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED; and
  • At least six (6) months of relative job-related experience.
  • or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job.

Licenses or Certifications:

  • Valid CPR and Red Cross certification.
  • Valid State driver’s license or ability to obtain one prior to acceptance of position.
  • Valid Food Handler’s certificate.

Special Requirements:

  • Level 1 Fingerprint card clearance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of geographic area in and around Page and general region.
  • Skill in providing transportation services, thorough knowledge of traffic laws and safety rules, thorough knowledge of safe driving techniques including defensive driving; experience working with elderly or handicapped individuals; some knowledge of senior citizen services and needs.
  • Skill in operation of listed tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Skill in First Aid and CPR.
  • Ability to safely drive a bus or van.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with senior adults, employees, supervisors, program participants, and the general public of culturally diverse population.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. The following physical abilities are required: fingering, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking and visual acuity.
