Working at Tucson Village Farm and the 4-H Healthy Living Center a member has the opportunity to engage in a variety of tasks. From teaching a cooking class at our Culinary Education Center to running teambuilding programs at the ropes course to tending our chicken flock to growing vegetables in our hot arid environment we have a wide variety of programs, projects and activities. A member working here needs to want to work hard, enjoy interacting with youth, be flexible and have a willingness to be a team player. Members will receive training in arid land food production, youth development, leadership development and program design and implementation.
Member Duties : Assist with farm duties, such as planting, harvesting, digging, weed removal, watering & other general maintenance. Develop, facilitate & evaluate program curriculum including programs which highlight STEM in the Garden for field trips, community events, teacher trainings & camps. Assist with food preparation, vegetables processing & storage, & teaching cooking classes in our commercial level community kitchen. Lead groups of youth through leadership, communication & problem solving activities on the 4-H Ropes Course. Lead & teach activities & lessons such planting methods, bed preparation, weed remediation, nutrition, soil science, culinary skills & physical activity. Market & promote programming through community activities, social media & newsletters. Assist with large community events. Preferred Qualifications: Ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions; Ability to lift over 50 pounds; Ability to work nights & weekends; Valid Driver’s License.
