Position Title:
Boiler/Maintenance Technician (Penta 5)


Position Description:

The Boiler/Maintenance Technician (Penta5) maintains the company’s boiler and pasteurization systems, oversees their maintenance, and implements related safety protocols.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine maintenance on the boiler and pasteurization systems and related equipment.
  • Maintains service and repair logs and routine and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Keeps equipment operating by troubleshooting breakdowns, completing repairs, and calling for service when appropriate.
  • Determines proper chemicals and proportions to be added to the water to prevent corrosion and scale build-up.
  • Documents service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
  • Supports internal customers by analyzing work orders, investigating complaints, conducting tests, resolving problems.
  • Establishes service by studying system requirements, ordering, and gathering components and parts, completing installation, performing acceptance tests.
  • Maintains rapport with internal customers by examining complaints, identifying solutions, suggesting improved methods and techniques, recommending system improvements.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience with industrial hot water heaters, burners, piping, and related equipment.
  • Experience working with ultra-high temperature pasteurization equipment preferred.
  • Journeyman level experience preferred.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Electrical troubleshooting.
  • Analyzing information from multiple sources.
  • Good judgment and safety practices.
  • Equipment maintenance.
  • Reporting skills.
  • Confidentiality.

Physical Requirements:

Must have the ability to:

  • Work longer hours than the typical 8 hours workday.
  • Regularly stand, walk, use hands to fingers, lift, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch or crawl.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. when necessary.
  • Exert up to 50 lbs. of force when moving boxes and other goods.
  • Demonstrate good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computers, calculators and various machines.
  • Wear personal protective equipment correctly during the day as needed.
  • Work in a variety of environments both in a shop or outside in heat or cold temperatures.
  • Drive a vehicle with a State issued driver’s license.
  • Communicate with others both verbally and written.
  • Tolerate a moderate stress level.
