The Position
This position will be responsible for installing control systems as well as upgrading and improving processes. Investigates and conducts experiments concerned with the physical characteristics, properties and processing of metals and develop applications and methods of commercially fabricating products from metals.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assessing processes for their relevance, and assessing the adequacy of engineering equipment.
- Applying the principles of mass, momentum and heat transfer to process.
- Preparing reports, flow diagrams and charts.
- Managing the cost and time constraints of projects.
- Working with sub-contractors and vendors.
- Ensuring the process works at the optimum level, to the right rate and quality of output to meet supply needs.
- Making observations and taking measurements directly, as well as collecting and interpreting data from other technical and operating staff involved.
- Makes process simulation calculations and/or performs hand calculations.
- Reviews reports on tests in tension or fatigue devices to study physical characteristics for manufacturing purposes or determine compliance with manufacturing specifications and standards.
- In conjunction with input from the Quality Department, will determine appropriate processing routs for rejects or returned materials and to assure that correct dispositions are being carried out.
- Provide basic metallurgical service for process control and product analysis.
- Evaluates scrap reports and assist manufacturing in programs to reduce total scrap output.
- Provides technical assistance to department heads on special projects.
- Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs.
- Confers with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
- Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
- Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
- Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems.
- Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
- Revises production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems.
- Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production quality of products.
- Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.
- Evaluates scrap reports and assists the Quality Control Department in programs to reduce scrap output.
- Assists in the training, development, and direction of the production workforce

Experience:
- Industrial engineering: 1 year (Preferred)
- Manufacturing: 1 year (Preferred)
- Lean manufacturing: 4 years (Required)
- Schematics: 1 year (Preferred)
