Job description

The Medical Records Director directs staff in maintaining the medical record system in compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.

  • Assists with implementing procedures to maintain the medical record system in compliance with federal, state and local requirements
  • Aids in implementing procedures to protect medical record information and ensure it is kept confidential
  • Protects medical record information from loss, defacing or destruction before retention period ends
  • Works with medical record staff with auditing, filing and computer data entry duties
  • Files medical records promptly and accurately by scanning them into an electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Retrieves medical records promptly upon request by authorized individuals
  • Assists nursing and administrative staff, as assigned
  • Observes infection control procedures
  • Follows Residents' Rights policies at all times
  • Observes all facility safety policies and procedures
  • Comes to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrates dependability and punctuality
  • Consistently works cooperatively with all staff and accepts assigned duties in a cooperative manner
  • Comes to work in neat, clean attire and consistently presents an appropriate professional appearance
  • Consistently works cooperatively with residents, residents' representatives, facililty staff, physician, consultants and ancillary service providers
  • Assumes accountability for all data contained in the employee handbook
  • Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor
