The Senior Software Architect will work with a small team of architects to ensure consistency in designs between the various development teams, assist with designing major subsystems and related interfaces, and provide guidance and mentoring for the entire Software Development organization. This position requires a full understanding of industry standard approaches for large scale IoT, time series data management systems and related cloud-based, multi-tenant, applications. Additionally, experience with the various stakeholders and workflows common in the solar / renewable energy industry involving installation, operations, maintenance, and asset management is required. Members of this team will work with other architects and developers to deliver industry-leading solutions and help the entire organization understand our product architecture, designs and development processes through collaboration and building consensus.
Responsibilities:

  • Develop architectures to enhance and support our PV / renewable energy monitoring solution.
  • Assist the data ingest development teams to provide the best-in-class real-time capabilities with regards to data quality, aggregation, analytics, and classification.
  • Write Knowledge Base articles for both internal and external users to document and explain technical features in PowerTrack.
  • Assist Development and QA with testing and validation of technical PowerTrack features.
  • Assist DevOps with deploying, maintaining, and supporting our hosting environments.
  • Evaluate third party tools and develop Proof of Concept implementations when necessary to ensure successful integration with our systems.
  • Administer all engineering processes and provide support to software teams.
  • Manage all communication with developers and resolve all conflicts between teams and individuals.
  • Coordinate with Product Management and analyze all functional and nonfunctional software projects requirement.
  • Maintain knowledge on industry developments and incorporate same into all company programs.
  • Collaborate with technical teams and ensure efficient product releases and recommend modifications and improvements to all products and services through regular analysis.
  • Ensure that our solutions are always performant, scalable, robust and secure.
  • Supervise and provide training to all junior engineers in organization for various software systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Higher in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Strong background developing microservice architectures, high volume processing solutions, web-based applications using Microsoft technologies.
  • At least ten years commercial experience defining and delivering enterprise software solutions.
  • Proven track record as a subject matter expert for software and architectural frameworks, methods, tools design and architectural patterns.
  • Solid software development life-cycle experience, and a proven record of implementing and delivering large scale applications.
  • Understanding of issues surrounding availability, redundancy, fault-tolerance; performance and load balancing; monitoring; and diagnostics.
  • Experience with security requirements and compliance related to the Energy and Financial industries.
  • Ability to lead through influence. Must be able to quickly establish technical credibility with technical teams.
  • Strong intellectual honesty, with the ability to deliver and receive constructive criticism, to accept and objectively assess somebody else’s ideas, and disagree in a constructive fashion when necessary.
  • Experience in solar or renewable energy software systems.
  • Excellent presentation skills. Comfortable interacting both internally, at the Board level, and with our largest customers.

Work Environment:

  • Office Setting, primarily in cubicles
  • Moderate to high noise levels (i.e. business office with computers, phone, printers, moderate traffic)
  • Ability to sit or stand (standing desk provide upon request) at a computer terminal for an extended period

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, keyboard, etc.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required

This is a salaried exempt position, M-F, with additional weekend work as required.
Salary Range: $140,000 - 170,000/annually
This position is based in Boulder, CO or remote. Relocation assistance to CO is available.
