UGSI Chemical Feed, Inc. Under the direction of the Supply Chain Manager, the Strategic Buyer will perform various purchasing/planning and administrative tasks. The tasks will involve supporting functions for the Manufacturing, Engineering and Finance departments. This full-time position is based out of the Company’s Vineland, NJ facility.

Under the direction of the Supply Chain Manager, the Strategic Buyer will perform various purchasing/planning and administrative tasks. Essential Job Functions
- Order placement for vendors as assigned by management.
- Confirm and expedite delivery of purchase orders as necessary.
- Provide order lead time guidance to Customer Service and Planning as required.
- Provide product non-conformance resolution.
- Develop strategic sourcing plans and summarize risk assessments.
- Develop alternate sources of supply for critical components.
- Complete necessary ERP transactions as required for purchasing job functions.
- Assist Finance with resolving invoicing discrepancies.
- Participate in product design and validation.
- Negotiate pricing with vendors for optimal buying price.
- Coordinate between Engineering and suppliers, including cost reduction activities.
- Provide continuous improvement recommendations.
- Supplier performance management – quality, delivery, and cost.
- Ensure clear and effective communications.
- Support resolution of commercial issues.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 3-5 years’ experience within a strategic procurement role.
- Experience working within make- to-order manufacturing environments.
- Global sourcing experience.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- Data entry experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Experience of successfully managing projects.
- Ability to multi-task.
Preferred Qualifications
- APICS certification.
- Experience with ERP systems; preferably Great Plains.
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to look at computer monitors for much of the workday.
Work Environment
- Approximately 80% Office Setting; and
- Approximately 20% Light Industrial – May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, chemicals and industrial facilities.
- Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions.
