Position Title:
Housing Stability Specialist Crisis Worker
Reports to: Housing Stability Program Manager
Status: Full-time (up to 40 hours per week), Non-Exempt
Compensation: $20.00/hour (Grade Level 7)

Position Summary: This is a full-time (40-hours/week) position. The Crisis Worker provides support services to families living in at-risk- circumstances. This position also provides prevention and intervention support services. The Crisis Worker will work onsite at the Wellstone Center and in the community. Hours for this position may fluctuate depending on participant needs and event schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Provide intake, assessment, resolution and follow-up services to individuals
- Determine appropriate funding sources for participant housing needs and advocate for participants with funders and funding sources
- Complete required paperwork and maintain participant paper files according to program requirements including entering participant data and case notes into agency database
- Attend and organize community outreach events.
- Work collaboratively with the Housing Trust Fund Family Coach and the other staff in Housing Stability.
- Manage the day to day operations of the Housing Trust Fund.
- Work independently with a diverse population that has complex issues and often numerous barriers to sustaining housing.
- Assist families in completing and implementing housing plan goals and resolving lease/maintenance problems
- Connect families with information and referrals on community resources and assist families to access resources and navigate systems based on identified needs.
- Promote the organization’s programs
- Provide services that are culturally competent and strength based
- Maintain thorough and confidential record of activities adhering to data privacy and ethical standards
- Provide summary data and reports to meet needs of agency evaluation systems and contract requirements
- Performs all work in accordance with Neighborhood House policies and procedures
- Maintain confidentiality of all program participants according with State Data Privacy Act
- Attend regular meetings and participate in staff development trainings
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human services, housing or related field required and/or four years of related work experience
- Minimum of 2 years of human services experience in a social service setting preferred and experience working in a community-based organization
- Must pass Certified Housing Quality Standard Inspector test, Counselor I Mortgage Foreclosure training and HMIS database training
- Knowledge of housing programs and city regulations — including housing laws, mortgage and foreclosure process, and tenant/landlord laws
- Strong organizational and budgeting skills
- Demonstrate ability to work and communicate effectively with people of diverse ethnic, economic, racial and cultural backgrounds
- Experience in program development and program evaluation desirable
- Ability to establish priorities, work both independently and as a team, complete projects on time, balance multiple tasks, and proceed with objectives with little supervision in a rapidly changing environment
- Data entry skills
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft office suite especially excel and outlook
- Attention to detail
- Ability to follow directions
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to follow file compliance and grant compliance with state and federal programs
- Bi-lingual a plus
- Knowledge of St. Paul neighborhoods a plus
- Must have a driver’s license, a clean driving record and a reliable means of transportation
- Must be able to safely lift a minimum of 20 pounds
- Strong computer, written and verbal communication skills
- Availability to work some evening and weekend hours as required
- Must pass a criminal check background
